Interim Arrangements for Dumbleton Parish from 1 April to 9 May 2023

Interim Arrangements for Dumbleton Parish from 1 April to 9 May 2023

Formation of two new parishes

Following the formal order by Tewkesbury Borough Council on 2 February 2023, two new parishes will be created on 1 April 2023.

These will be Dumbleton Parish comprising the villages of Dumbleton and Great Washbourne with the new Dumbleton Parish Council, while the village of Wormington will be in Wormington Parish, served by a Parish Meeting

Local elections take place on 4 May 2023 for the Borough Council and the new Dumbleton Parish Council.

As a result of these elections and the formation of a new Parish Council, there are interim arrangements in place between 1 April and 9 May.

Interim Arrangements

The current Dumbleton Parish Council will be dissolved at 23:59 on 31 March 2023. The new Dumbleton Parish Council will come into existence at 00:00 on 1 April 2023.

As local elections are due within six weeks of the formation of this new Council, the existing Parish Councillors cannot serve and only the Parish Clerk can take up their position. As a result, the new Dumbleton Parish Council will have no serving councillors for a period of approximately five weeks.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has made arrangements for the Isbourne ward Borough Councillor, Cllr Mel Gore, to undertake all Parish Councillor duties during this period. Cllr Gore will work with the Parish Clerk on behalf of Dumbleton Parish Council on any matters that need attention.

Cllr Gore can be contacted (from 1 April to 9 May) by:

Email: councillor.gore@tewkesbury.gov.uk

Tel: 07970 429832

The Parish Clerk is the first point of contact for all Parish Council matters. Cllr Gore can only assist parishioners with matters that fall under the Parish Council’s remit while working on behalf of Dumbleton Parish Council.

Following 9 May, councillors elected to the Parish Council at the local elections will take up their posts on the new Dumbleton Parish Council.
